The latest bike to join my stable is Niner’s short-travel trail bike, the 2022 JET 9 RDO. I didn’t really expect that it would ride hugely different from the RIP—there’s only 20mm of travel separating them after all. I was wrong.

For the most part, the standard frame protection that comes stock on mountain bike frames is decent, but it has limits. Here's how to DIY a super durable frame protector.

I won't downplay it, or be shamed by the rest of the cycling world… I love riding fat! And not just in snow.

141mm QR. A new "standard"… just what the bike industry needed! Can you get a bike with this new 141x5mm axle width to work on the Wahoo KICKR bike trainer? This all started for me after picking up a new 2018 Salsa Fargo GX 29er, which features this new hub spacing.

It’s a strange and slightly pathetic thing when you think about it. Who really cares if I rode 4652’ of elevation on my mountain bike, or if Strava says I only rode 3509’? Strava is one part ego, and one part training.
